Best and Safe Care – a First Sensitization for Patient Safety

Although Safety Guidelines can be effective in bringing about change and improving health outcomes, they are just one element of good decision making, which also takes account of patients’ preferences and values, clinicians’ values and experience, and the availability of resources. Leadership, commitment and communication together with trust and openness to build a culture of patient safety are prerequisites for successful reporting and learning. This will be the topic in the afternoon workshop “Best and Safe Care”, offered by EAC Department of Academic Affairs at this year ECU convention 2010 in London, UK.
