Healthy Children: Proper Exercise and Nutrition; where do we aim?
Some of today’s children are considered at risk due to their exercise and nutritional habits. Most children, especially athletic youngsters look to be in the peak of health but could be setting up for life-long health problems. Children doing different sports demonstrate different body composition and body proportions. This talk aims to investigate what effect sports training, exercise and nutrition has on the growing child and whether there is sound, conservative advice in these areas we can give to help optimize the growing child’s health.

Assessing osteopenia and osteoporosis with DXA Bone Mineral Density Scans
Osteoprorosis is a common clinical problem. Large numbers of our patient population are at risk for osteopenia and this may put our treatment of those patients in jeopardy as well. The technique of X-ray-based dual photon absorptiometry (DXA) bone mineral density scanning is one useful option for determining a patient’s risk. The procedure is non-invasive, painless as well as easy to use and interpret. This workshop clarifies the at-risk population, the process and management procedures with the at-risk patient population. This is an interactive workshop with many skills to hone.
