NHS – Chiropractic For All
It would seem that with the current recommendations from the National Health Service for the use of chiropractic in low back pain pathways re the NICE guidelines and the DH Musculoskeletal Services documents, our profession should be easily integrating with mainstream health care. But, there are practical challenges such as governance, proof of effectiveness, evidence of resulting cost savings and the way in which we present what we do and how that translates across professions.
Such challenges are manageable with the right approach and an understanding of what the National Health Service requires.
We will explore ways in which we can present chiropractic, provide evidence of our practice, illustrate our cost effectiveness in an acceptable format and look at the different possibilities of integrated working.
Chiropractic should be available to those who would benefit from its care, the rewards of providing that benefit are great and the profile of our profession can only be enriched by integration.
